MOTOR-RACING TRACK
In 1947 Corso Regina Margherita, Via Cavour, a part of the present Corso
Marconi and Via de' Medici, were adapted into a racing track (total length
2,621 metres). The track was very soon enlarged and extended to 3,380
metres, including the whole Corso Marconi, then newly built, and excluding
Via de' Medici. On the racing track of Ospedaletti, approved for its Formula 1 International Grand Prix, competed
the most famous and daring pilots of this sport, among whom were Farina,
Villoresi, Ascari, Fangio, Dorino Serafino, Azzi, Rovelli. The racing
track was also used, until 1972, as motorbike-racing track. To be remembered
the participation of the great Italian champions of motor-cycling Balestrieri
and Agostini.
